For instance, when learning letters, pictures help to build sound of the letter: A is for apple, ant, ape. The slogan "Tell me and I forget; Teach Me and I remember; Involve me and I learn" define the use of manipulatives. Students are able to construct their own cognitive sense when manipulatives are used. Learning comes from doing not just seeing someone demonstrating. When students use manipulatives they are more engaged. Research has shown that using manipulatives can bridge the gap some in learning concepts.
