My students are motivated self-driven scholars. They want to prepare themselves for rigorous college work, so they take AP Chemistry to help in that effort. Most of my AP students have already taken Chemistry and I was their teacher. They liked chemistry enough to learn more and that inspires me to be a better teacher for them and to provide them with challenges and exciting labs that not only teach the subject matter, but peak their interests. Our school traditionally had 1-3 students per year to register for AP Chemistry. Now that I have been teaching the course we have an average of 11 students per year. Our school has a high free and reduced lunch 50% percentage and has been a title I school up until this year. We have about 1600 students in the school and I have been teaching here for 24 years. The students and the community of this school are hardworking and caring. I work hard making sure they are prepared for university level work when they leave my classroom.
