Our classroom is in need of transitional items to help them learn in the classroom and carry over it their home environment. We are in need of an stove and it would open lots of opportunities for all students to participate in Friday cooking days. We currently are using a convectional oven to cook their projects and on some days it does not work and burns our items. We are in need of a stove so they can broaden their cooking projects instead of making cookies and desserts. They want to expand their cooking to making meals like mac and cheese and other lunch/dinner items. My students are Autistic and a few are non verbal and they are in need to learn how to do cooking in the classroom so they can help in their home environment to show their parents what they are learning in the classroom. The cooking includes math,reading,science and other academics in their learning. The classroom has a refrigerator,microwave and an convection oven that works part time. The teacher and para in the classroom have provided some of the things in the classroom and a stove would be great for students to have access in the classroom with guidance.
