The students in my classroom come from diverse backgrounds and cultures. Most of my students are English Language Learners who learn best through the use of hands-on learning activities. They come from low-income families. Although they face many challenges at home, they come to school excited and eager to learn. iPads would allow my students access to technology that otherwise they would not be able to encounter. My students love to use our classroom SmartBoard, but this only allows for one student at a time to access technology. A set of 4 iPads would allow a small group of students to work simultaneously to practice reading and math skills during the school day.
