Currently, my class set of novels that I teach have twenty-eight books in them. My largest class is thirty-two. In that class, the students have to share books! To make matters worse, when a students is absent, I can't send a book home with them for them to get caught up. It would be beneficial for the students and for myself if there was enough books for each student to check out during the unit! This would allow students to be able to have a book at home for when they miss a chapter or want to review a chapter for a quiz or test. This would also make it easier to teach close reading and annotation. Students would use sticky notes and be able to leave them in the book and refer back to them throughout the unit.
