Our school has two garden areas and a greenhouse. We use the raised bed area primarily for the lower school grades. They grow vegetables in their raised beds. This provides enrichment for science, math, reading, writing, and STEAM activities. Our middle school students are working in our formal garden called the Children's Botanical Garden of Tiles. This garden has been neglected and needs attention. Our design is to create a garden filled with native plants that will attract native pollinators. The intention is that this beautiful area will serve as an outdoor classroom and venue for the community at large. We need gloves and trowels to work in the soil in both of the garden areas. Students enjoy gardening and it is an amazing method for connecting to the curriculum. We hope that all subject areas will benefit from the garden areas.
