My students are excited about reading and reaching their potential to be on level at the end of the year so they can be successful in third grade. We have a supportive staff that works together across the grade levels to ensure our students have every opportunity to read with other students in the school. This allows my students an opportunity to see what older students sound like when they read and build relationships with other students in the school. We spend a lot of time at school reading, because most of my students do not have books at home. It is important that I have a good variety of text for my students to choose from, since for many of them this is their only opportunity to read and check out books.
