I have purchased a curriculum called KinderLiteracy. In this curriculum, I will be doing multiple close reads in the classroom. Close reads are looking deeper into books to focus on details and meaning of a story. I will do a close read on one book per week and will supplement that book with one or two others to help with comparison. These units will encourage the kiddos in Kindergarten to talk deeply about books, learn new vocabulary, have real life connections, and learn life-skills. Each week the curriculum focuses on an essential question, comprehension, story element focuses, and linked writing. I believe this curriculum will help my students improve on their literacy and writing skills.
