I teach in a Title One, Second Grade classroom in Kansas City, Kansas. Eighty-one percent of my students are on free and reduced lunches. With the socioeconomic status being so low, often I receive no supplies for my students. I spend a lot of money each year buying what our students will need for the school year. I have a large population of ELL students. All my students are very sweet but have limited resources. Many of their parents are here from Mexico and only speak Spanish in the home. Since my classroom has tables instead of desks, I am in need of the seat sacks for their school supplies. I also spend a large amount of time sharpening pencils. I have one pencil sharpener in my room, which is not working a lot of the time. That is why I need pencils also!
