One of the things I’ve learned while teaching is students learn in a variety of ways. Some enjoy working at their desk while others like to have freedom to move, stretch out, and sit in a place they are comfortable. Giving my students a cozy carpet will open up another flexible seating option for my classroom. I find when students are given the choice of where to work, they are more productive. The addition of a carpet to our classroom would make a great space to work independently or with others. The carpet will also serve as a meeting spot for lessons and for our Morning Meeting time in which we are able to focus on students’ social and emotional needs.
