One area that my struggle with is communication and basic interpersonal skills. Incorporating morning meetings into our daily routine will allow students to develop important communication and academic skills. It will also provide them with time to build relationships with their classmates on a daily basis. Morning meetings will give the students opportunities to learn to communicate with one another. Young students must first be able to communicate before they can read. A classroom rug and sit spots will create a space in our classroom where students can feel comfortable and ready to learn each day. Students participating in morning meeting have a level of social and emotional leaning that fosters academic learning. The social and emotional learning that will take place in this special spot in our classroom will help students develop skills that they will use for a lifetime.
