Students need reading materials in their hands. This project will allow them to have those materials close at hand at the right reading levels. Currently, I have a small classroom library. According to the NCTE (National Council of Teachers of English), classroom libraries—physical or virtual—play a key role in providing access to books and promoting literacy. My students will have a larger, more interesting, classroom library. Students will have fiction and nonfiction books to choose from that they actually want to read. They will be able to read books like Tales of a 4th Grade Nothing, The Tiger Rising, and Matilda.
