I work with a large group of wonderful kindergarten through 5th grade students. All of our students receive special education services in math, reading, writing, and social/emotional skills, or are receiving intensive Response to Intervention services for reading. Our students are eager to learn and be active participants in their general education classrooms, however due to the nature of their disabilities or delays, they lack the academic and/or social skills needed to access the content in their classrooms. We work at a great public elementary school. All of our students play an integral part in their classrooms. Our general education teachers try their very best to accommodate our students, however we lack technological support that would help our students access their environment, such as apps with text-to-speech and speech-to-text capabilities .
