I am beginning my 31st year of teaching at Dixon Elementary. Small town schools are so special. I've taught long enough now to be able to teach the children of my former students. They get such a kick out of knowing that I was mommy or daddy's teacher also. Most of my teaching experience has been spent teaching 1st grade but 3 years ago I switched to Title Communication Arts. I love my job and kiddos and am always on the lookout for ways to enhance their learning. I've seen many trends come and go during my teaching career but know that no matter what trend or program is at the forefront I must do what is best for my students. Hands on experiences are such an important learning tool for young students so I try to incorporate them as often as possible. My goal this year is for my students to be able to experience many hands on learning activities and in turn develop a love for learning, especially reading.
