Rhythm instruments help teach music fundamentals to younger children. This is accomplished by learning accompaniments and ostinatos that go with the songs we sing in class. Our goal is to give every student a chance to play these instruments in class. To prepare younger students for musical success in higher grades, they need to acquire musical literacy. The music carpet we would like to get shows various common musical symbols. Using the games associated with this carpet, such as musical bingo, make learning music notation fun. This hands-on approach results in quicker knowledge acquisition and longer retention. In the long run, the children's familiarity with musical symbols will enable them to be more successful when they're ready to learn a musical instrument.
