One of the favorite parts of my students' day is read aloud. As I'm reading along I will hear my students whispering among themselves, "Wow! That illustration is cool!" or "Look at the detail on that page! The illustrator must have worked hard on that!" Second graders are so fine-tuned to every detail of a book. They hover over the borrowed book, zooming in with their little noses almost touching the page, reading and inspecting every detail.
