My amazing school is in a rural, farming community. I teach on a collaborative team with 3 other fourth grade teachers. I am one of two Reading and English/Language Arts teachers on my team. Each day I see 44 students -- half in the morning and half in the afternoon. Several of my students are in the special education program and many more have difficulty sitting still and sustaining attention. I see kids who come from upper middle class families all the way to kids whose only meals of the day are the ones they get at school. With such diversity in my room, it is crucial that I help reach each and every one of their learning styles.
