All of my students are facing language delays. Engaging in pretend play such as shopping at a grocery store or working at a post office will help to strengthen my students' language abilities. Dramatic play is very important in a preschool classroom because it promotes academic, functional, and social skills. Students' vocabulary will increase as they label items. They will be provided with opportunities to ask and answer "wh" questions and to give and follow directions. Dramatic play will also help foster their social skills as my students interact with their peers. My students love hands-on activities and sensory time. Their sensory needs are so important, and I would like to help meet these needs by having materials available to them. I am hoping to establish sensory and dramatic play centers for my students. I have chosen toys that will help my students' to choose from multiple roles, such as pretending to be a police offer, or pretending to be a customer at a grocery store. Having these dramatic play items will help encourage my students' growth academically, socially, and emotionally.
