Students will use the batteries to power a dc motor that is attached to two paint strips. The wire is used to carry the power to the motor. The alligator clips attach the wire to the battery. The meter sticks mark out how far the ball can travel in a certain time. The rulers are used for measuring distances on the paint stick for motor, battery placement and the amount of wire needed. The gorilla tape secures the battery and motor. The masking tape marks out two different courses for the ping pong balls. The students use markers to design their species ping pong ball. The lab objective is to design, wire and create a fan to propel a pink pong ball (predator) through a maze faster then all other ping pong balls (prey. If predator wins they remain the predator and the prey goes back to redesign their fan. If prey beats the predator, the prey becomes the predator and predator becomes prey. This continues to we have one predator left and then they will soon realize their time is short because of no more prey to eat.
