My students are in a self-contained special education classroom which includes grades 9th - 12th. The majority of the students are on the autistic spectrum and spend 4-5 class periods in one room. In this classroom, the students receive individualized attention from the 4 adults (1 teacher and 3 aides) present. Here they can be themselves, laugh with peers who understand their humor and share their interests. Our school is small which allows the students in this classroom to be part of a larger, supportive community. The students participate in grade level activities such as yearlong projects and field trips.
