Our students predominately come from low-income families living in East Oakland. Our campus serves a diverse ethnic population. A large portion of the students are immigrants and the children of immigrants seeking opportunities and a better life. Our school is determined to provide the students with opportunities. I have personally presented my class with political symposiums focused on the presidential campaign and varied Supreme Court cases, my students participated in NaNoWriMo and wrote terrific novels, I presented a unit on music appreciation and performance based on the science of wavelengths, and we are currently working on a play. Our students are industrious and hard working. They are motivated to excel academically and routinely score quite high on assessments. More than half of my class are on the Honor Roll!
