I have been building a class set of books for years. These books will be used for current and future students in the classroom. Having a class set of books where students do not have to share, creates a sense of ownership by providing each of them with their own book. Students will have access to children's literature, growing a library in our classroom with great children's literature for them to enjoy. I have an author's chair where students read books and in turn, they retell it to the other students. With these books, students will read books that are enjoyable to them while learning basic reading skills. With each having their own copy of "Sylvester and the Pebble", students can make predictions, infer, compare, contrast, make connections, draw conclusions, summarize, and identify cause and effect relationships.
