Compassion motivates people to go out of their way to help the physical, mental, or emotional pains of another and themselves. In order to work well with others students need to see the others' point of view. Learning compassion and empathy gives us tools we can use to interact with others in a successful manner. The EverFi program teaches compassion and empathy. Our school has recently adopted a house system. Each student belongs to a house and a family. This builds a strong sense of community and camaraderie between the students and the teachers. The capes are used in the houses to acknowledge outstanding behavior or academic achievement.
