Hi, My name is Tim Welsh. I am a science and STEM educator at Venture Academy Family of schools through San Joaquin County office of Education. I have been teaching for around 15 years now and have taught a wide range of science, technology, & engineering courses. Currently I am teaching at a critical Thinking Academy called BrainworX Academy. We like to combine 21st century skills with an integrated, Project Based learning approach to education. At the end of each semester students participate in a Defense of Mastery project where they orally defend their knowledge in a master project in front of a panel of teachers, students, and business members. They create a proposal, abstract and product for their presentation. By combining critical thinking standards and an integrated, project based learning approach to education, students come away with the skills they need to compete in the 21st century.
