Hey! My name is Dina Preston. I'm a 2nd grade teacher in Goose Creek, SC. I'm a transplant from Ohio, but I love the Charleston area. I'm so lucky to get paid to do something that I love! I think 2nd grade is the best grade to teach. They are still so innocent and are like little sponges. They love to hug and they are brutally honest. But these little people are starting to develop their independence and responsibility, and I love being a part of that! I have been noticing a change in the students we are getting. They are more active and have more distractions than we ever had. Teachers have to compete with video games and technology. I think it's important to make the learning fit the children instead of the children fitting the learning. That's why I'm a big fan of flexible seating, among other "unstructured" ways of teaching and learning.
