My students have very unique learning needs. We modify and adapt materials constantly to meets their needs for vision, hearing, and tactile stimulation. We adapt activities to make them more interactive and engaging. The items requested such as Velcro and magnets will help us do that. The students require structure and clear expectations throughout their day. Visual timers will help us to manage those expectations and provide the students a clear beginning and ending to tasks. Many of our students have sensory impairments along with their other special needs. This requires us to have a space for sensory breaks as well as items to use during lessons and breaks to meet those sensory needs appropriately. A carpet, special seating, and bean bags are just a few of the items that will help accomplish this.
