Imagine riding the bus for nearly an hour just to get an education and a hot meal. Each day, that is exactly what the mornings look like to many of my students. Many of my students come from low income families that struggle just to keep the lights on each month and keep food on the table. So for the majority of our students from our small, rural Pre-K thru 12 Title I school many of them come from homes with little or no technology. Over 75+% of our Elementary students are on Free or Reduced Lunch. While our students may lack some of the essentials needed when they enter our school they are surrounded by more love and support than they could possibly receive anywhere else. At our school we are constantly reminded that “Even on your worst day on the job, you are still some child's best hope.” For some of our students we are just that. We are the only ones who care whether or not they completed their homework, if they have eaten supper last night or if they have a jacket to wear when it’s 30 degrees outside.
