Many of my students come from low-income homes and school is the one place where they can feel safe and experience nice things. We have a very small school population which makes students really feel at home when they are there. We get to really know our students and they know we are there to help them. We've often said our school is like a family where everyone knows each other by name and where we are always there for each other.
