I have a unique and highly energetic classroom with sixteen different levels of engaged learning. All of my learners come from some of the lowest poverty level living in Cape Girardeau, MO. All of them go home with a food backpack on the weekend to help supplement meals for each family. My students come to me not only with poverty struggles, but also learning disabilities. My students love being in my classroom because we are a family. We come together share our struggles, helping others to make a difference not only in ourselves, but with each other. Cooking is one of our favorite things to do, and my students get to make cookies and snacks for their whole classroom. Watching their eyes light-up by handing their classmate a snack that they were able to make is one of the most exciting lessons for them. They also enjoy exploring in so many different ways.
