The use of technology is almost a daily activity in my classroom, especially in literacy. Children love technology and my students are no exception! This year we will have minimal access to technology in our building. Being granted with these five iPad minis (plus protective cases and stylus pens) provides students an opportunity to access a host of literacy programs, practice reading and writing skills and be able to enhance the reading intervention lessons adapted from our new reading series. It will improve their writing and literacy skills as they practice with appropriate programs. In addition, my students will have an opportunity to prepare for assessments on the iPad mini as well. Since we are no longer using "paper and pencil" assessments, my students will have daily opportunities to build a level of comfort with the tablets and testing format. One of the best ways to prepare them is to integrate test preparations strategies into everyday lessons. The iPad mini will help in assisting my students in developing a deeper understanding of topics and enhance deeper reading skills.
