After our school was vandalized over the Winter Break, I discovered my classroom had been broken into and our class set of headphones had been taken. I was extremely disappointed because my students didn’t deserve to suffer because of someone else’s actions. Some of the stolen items were recovered, but not our headphones and due to budget restraints, my school was unable to replace them. After watching my previous class miss the last five months of access to the computer lab, I would hate to see my incoming class go the entire school year without receiving the benefits the computer lab provides. My concern is that without receiving these headphones, my incoming students will not have the opportunity to participate in individualized learning of the skills that will be essential to their success this school year. My students tend to enter kindergarten below grade level and lacking basic skills so being able to receive much needed practice while in the computer lab helps to benefit them academically.
