My 25 students love working hands-on and using their critical thinking skills independently and also collaboratively. Part of our literacy time is spent working through five different Daily 5 Learning Stations: writing, listening, reading to self and partners, and word work. At word work students use magazines, blocks, Boggle, banana-grams, dry-erase boards, and other tools to create and spell words. Osmo will aid in their abilities to interact with letters by spelling out the on-screen picture. Students use the letter tiles on their desks while the Osmo Learning System detects which letters they choose. Students can then switch letters until they have spelled the word correctly. This interactive tool allows students to better understand the variety of sounds letters make and increase their abilities to decode words. Students play independently or with a partner to see who can spell the word faster.
