My students are ages 5-8 years old. Most have grown up in rural Appalachia or a small town. Almost all are bused to school. They're funny kids, who love to play outdoors and are full of energy. My students have attention disorders, autism, developmental disabilities, reading disorders, focus problems, and hearts of gold. My students struggle with academics and social skills everyday, but continue to try their best. They have friends, they smile and say good morning everyday, but when you ask most of them to read to you, your heart begins to break for them. It's hard, really hard, but they love books, and technology. They'll go the extra mile to show Nashville School pride, and they know the saying- "I don't like this, but I will do it anyway!"
