We have students from all walks of life. This includes many separate ethnicity's, religious groups, and socioeconomic backgrounds. Many of our students come from low socioeconomic backgrounds which can inhibit opportunity, life choices, and overall quality of life. Science and math are often difficult for our students. Many students come in with little to no background in the areas of biology and chemistry. However, our state requires End-of-Course testing in the area of biology. We are under pressure to ensure that we offer success to all students. During the last three years, we have met all 16 points in the area of biology. This did not happen by accident. We use many techniques that allow our students to achieve mastery over subject matter, regardless of any deficits that they may have. We encourage teamwork. We work in collaborative groups to make sure that all students achieve and succeed. We are very interested in bringing live plants and animals into our classroom.
