My school is an expeditionary learning school in Massachusetts and my students thrive in hands-on classrooms and learn best when lessons are made meaningful and authentic. Bob Ross' painting style embodies my school's design principle of success and failure, and I would like to bring this principle to life in a unique way with a Bob Ross paint along activity. My students are a group of 8th graders who rally behind the idea of trying something new, supporting each other, and challenging themselves. They have a diverse range of interests and all take pride in their work and habits of learning. After showing them a short clip of Bob Ross, they remarked on his positive attitude, his relentless pursuit of finding joy through painting, and his wonderful 70s afro.
