My school is a unique Title I school educating pre-kindergarten through 5th grade students with a variety of backgrounds. More than 50% of the students attending the school are English language learners. Over 90% of them receive free or reduced price meals. The whole school community collaborates to foster learning opportunities for all students and works towards preparing all students to be successful in the future and become college and career ready. As an ELL teacher, my main goal is to guide my English language learners toward gaining proficiency in listening, speaking, reading and writing English and prepare them to transition to 2nd grade. Technology has changed the way educators teach and the way students learn. I noticed that every time I use some type of technology my students are more engaged and attentive. I believe that pads will be a great facilitator of teaching and learning using apps that are both fun and educationally useful for ELLs.
