As an English teacher to predominantly urban African American youth, it is always my goal to create a more equitable learning space for my scholars. There needs to be more equity in both curriculum, resources and technology. We are working to close the digital divide among poor and/or students of color. I've created a makeshift one-to-one classroom where my scholars use Chrome Books to access the Internet to gain additional understanding of complex text. I also use technology to create a more comfortable space to unpack controversial topics. I've seen some of my scholars bare their souls in anonymous online discussion boards. They deserve to continue to capture their thoughts and ideas digitally. This may even enhance their artistic visions if they had greater access and knowledge of recent technological advancements. Thank you for giving whatever you can to our classroom in the clouds.
