My students are very much a lively group and come to class each day looking forward to our school family routines. There are 20 total students - 11 girls and 9 boys. My school is in a high poverty area as well as high crime area. The students often share home life stories that your more advantage student will never be exposed to. Too often, we learn that parents are not in the child's life and grandparents or guardians are accepting responsibility. I have one child who is homeless. Transportation for many families is to walk or use the public transit. It is a Title One school with only 10 teachers all teaching VPK.
