My students are amazing kids who live in a rural community. Many of them tell me they just don't have access to books, except at school. One young man told me this year that he brought a book of short stories from my classroom library to work, and adults there started reading it too. My students are constantly giving me lists of books they wish we had at school. Several teachers in my building post covers of books they are reading in their classrooms or on their doors. Kids notice. There are so many conversations about books in the halls between classes, etc... because of the covers being displayed. Kids love it when we actually own the book and can let them borrow it.
