Having a copy of Of Mice and Men for every student will significantly help the reading experience for each individual student. The novels that I do have are old, falling apart and missing some pages as well as in short supply. Many pages are taped inside of the book as well as all bindings reinforced with the same tape. Some students share novels in order to get all assigned reading completed. The donations to this project will help to improve my students' understanding of the complexities within the Realism and Naturalism periods of literature. These novels will allow students to read outside of class and at their own pace in order to analyze the time periods and literary elements that Steinbeck perfects. The donation will also help us retire our older books and then assign newer novels to all students for this unit. Each student deserves a chance to use a text at his/her own pace.
