I currently teach 3rd-5th-grade special education math. I have allowed students to do their work with dry erase markers and boards to make it more exciting and fun for them. I think allowing them to write on the tables and allow them to collaborate with one another will change their perspective with math. Students will be collaborating by writing on the tabletops, and if they become stuck, they will be able to look at the students work next to them. This will also allow me to create math stations on the tabletops. Students can move station to station, and because of the dry erase tops will have quicker clean up times, allowing us to get through more stations.
