Before we do any projects in my classroom, I introduce the project through an entry document, which describes what the project is and what the students will need to do to complete the project. In order to best roll out this project, we do Know and Need to Know charts. This is the chance for students to think about what they already know about the subject and what they need to know in order to complete it. The best way for students to start thinking about a project is to display their knowledge and questions on a piece of chart paper in the front of the room so that every student can see it and add to it.
