Many of my students come from very impoverished areas in Latin America. Many families have immigrated to the USA to escaped drug cartels and gang violence in their country. Many students lack the necessary skills to be successful academically and although technology can not be the only approach to helping them meet the academic standards, it is an essential one. Many of my students deal with tremendous hardships yet they have tremendous tenacity and resilience. They come to school despite of their hardships and put forth tremendous effort. My school is located in South Central Los Angeles in the Athens area. It is notorious for gangs, homelessness and crime.
