As the new SEL teacher for the school building, having these books and materials will support me in promoting positive, healthy social-emotional relationships that align with New York State Benchmarks for Social Emotional Learning. Research suggests that student learning benchmarks may increase the likelihood that students will receive better instruction in Social Emotional Learning (SEL), experience improved school connectedness, and become better learners. The skills, strategies, and activities taught through these materials will also be practiced and reinforced at home. All of these materials have been chosen with my students in mind to promote trust through team-building activities. Students will need to strengthen social connections after an 18 month absence from an in-person classroom. Donating to this project will help me to support their reconnection to a classroom environment.
