My students are some of the most loving, despite the odds against them. Many of the students that attend my school are struggling with the effects of poverty. Being children raised in poverty means that they are not always afforded the physical and emotional needs to be successful in school. Our school is urban, approximately 80% minority, Title 1, and severely economically disadvantaged. At DBMS we strive to be an extension of their family and give them everything they need to be successful. The students recognize this and are grateful. They show us genuine love and a desire to learn in return.
