Our school has many low income students. Lots of our students move in and out and several have been in foster care. Many of the students have never traveled more than 45 miles out of our small Midwest town and can't even begin to imagine what the world is like. There used to be two large manufacturing companies in the town, but both have closed. This has left many without jobs. Our school is very old and outdated. The children sit at tables that have been in the schools since the 70's. There has not been any new furniture since I started teaching seven years ago.
