There will be activities set up throughout the library such as a station where students can get creative with their art. Our biggest project is the Manga/Anime corner where kids relax on chairs and couches and can bond with their peers. The space will also be used by the Special Education teachers and students as part of their reading activity area. Special education students will also learn to regulate their emotions and be able to practice their reading skills in a comfortable environment. Through this support, we expect to see Special Education students work on their IEP goals and see growth after a year and a half of steady regression. Making this space accessible and available to all students will encourage them to use better attitudes and life skills.
In making this space accessible and available to all students on campus, we are expecting that peer relationships will be formed, and connections will be made that will carry on throughout school and in all their classes. Making these connections with peers will help support the social and emotional well-being of all students. A happy and healthy environment will help our students.
