The 2 Chrome OS computers would allow our school’s scholars receiving special education supports and services to work on their reading and mathematics research-based computer intervention. These 2 computers start the beginning of our dream computer lab where eventually we hope to have a one-to-one scholar-to-computer ratio.
My scholars shine like diamonds with facets reflecting their unique capabilities. Some scholars are on the autism spectrum or are developmentally delayed; others have emotional disturbance or intellectual disability; and there are those who strive to learn with an identified type of learning disability. Our Special Education teachers help our “scholar jewels.” We consider all scholars as special with each reflecting his or her personal best. Together they form our school’s “crown of learning.”
Our funding comes from the public and is thinly stretched throughout our county. Each school is accountable for budgeting its technology. Our school’s technology is outdated and worn-out. Having 2 dedicated computers will allow our school’s special education department to service scholars with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
