Flexible seating areas in the classroom empower students to make their own choices and use their own thinking about what works best for them. During independent work time, students have the choice about where to sit. This empowers them to have a choice in their own learning which in turn helps them to stay more focused. This consequently helps to create a calmer classroom with fewer disruptions. Wobble stools and inflatable bounce chairs will be used as an alternative to a traditional chairs. This will allow students to have the option to move around while working. This type of movement will help high energy and active students to stay focused. In addition, bean bag chairs and couch seating will give the students flexible seating options during whole group instruction in our meeting area. Giving students choices and flexible seating options helps them to feel empowered. Empowered students are more invested in their own learning, which is a huge key to fostering successful thinkers and learners!
