My New Jersey classroom is always buzzing with music! I currently teach grades 6 to 8 Band, Orchestra, Jazz Band, World Music Ensemble and general music. I try to offer my students as many different experiences as possible but we don't always have the materials needed to meet their needs. I try to engage my general music classes by providing them playing opportunities that correspond with our curriculum topics. This enables the students to experience music in a more complete way. Many students do not have the opportunity to participate in instrumental music for various reasons but by offering instruments in my classes as well as an extracurricular club, students who otherwise would not have had the opportunity can now participate in a performance group.
